The January, 2010 It-News for the It-kids:
1. HERE WE GO:
We have nothing new this month, so please, instead of buying something, please consider a contribution to Haiti Earthquake relief.
We have a bunch of new releases this year, but I’ll tell you about those next month.
New gig dates have been announced for David Thomas, Pere Ubu, Cheetah Chrome, and This Moment In Black History.
David Thomas makes a rare trip to Australia this month for 2 very special appearances. First, David appears in Hal Willner’s Rogue’s Gallery production at the one and only Sydney Opera House on January 28. Here’s what we know of it: an Australian exclusive, a stellar line-up of over 20 rock and folk icons, actors, punk rockers and more take to the stage on the Forecourt of the Sydney Opera House, along with an exceptional house band, to bring the lore and fables of the pirates and sailors of the high seas to life. The songs chronicle a life at sea - from sailors, convicts, travelers and pirates - and all the hardships, horrors, lusts and romance that went along with it. David appears alongside Marianne Faithfull, Tim Robbins, David Johansen, Todd Rundgren, Gavin Friday, Norma Waterson, Kami Thompson, Marry Waterson, and many others.
On January 31, David continues his Australian excursion with a performance at Notes Live in Sydney, Newtown, NSW. Backed by Sam Worrad’s Holy Soul. These 2 rare appearances are not to be missed.
Likewise, Cheetah gigs on January 17 at The Continental, NYC with the likes of Lenny Kaye, CJ Ramone, Bebe Buell and many others as well. Smog Veil has lots of Cheetah and David stuff in store for 2010, we’ll tell you more next month.
Updates for all the new stuff, reviews, mp3 samples and video is updated daily at the Smog Veil Facebook fan page. Check it out:
